Thawatchai Pienkerd (Job) is a 15 year old boy who lives in the central Thailand town of Phetchaboon.
Job started to smoke when he was 11 years old after an argument with his mother. He tried smoking to release stress. He continued to smoke, both in and out of school.
When he turned 12 years old, he started to smoke marijuana with his senior student friends at school. After he had tried it twice, he got a part-time job as a drug runner delivering methamphetamine.
One day, after Job delivered some drugs, his boss (a drug seller) gave him methamphetamine (ice) instead of money. At first Job sold the meth and made money, but his boss kept giving him methamphetamine instead of money. At the age of 13, Job tried meth and used it off and on for over a year.
Then in 2014, he had a chance to go to the Phetchaboon church where he saw the thinkSMALL Drug Free Show rehearsal. He was interested and asked the thinkSMALL team “What is the Show about?” The team told him, “It’s about saying NO to drugs”!
After that, the thinkSMALL team had a chance to get to know Job and they taught him about the dangers of drugs.
Today Job helps to protect children from drugs. He volunteers with the thinkSMALL team, and helps with inventory. He is happy that he does not take drugs anymore!!
